RULES & REGULATIONS OF SOME OF THE CEMETERIES WE SERVICE:
D.C. Stilkey & Son, Inc. was incorporated in 1996 By Donald and Evelyn Stilkey, but the origins of D.C. Stilkey began much earlier then that. In 1965 Ralph Prout (Father of Evelyn (Prout) Stilkey) began as superintendent of the Grove cemetery in Freeport. He maintained Grove and dig the graves in Freeport until about 1975 when he turned it over to Don while his wife Evelyn took care of the financial side of the business.
Don soon thereafter was asked to manage the Burr cemetery across town. Don dug the graves and maintained the two cemeteries until 1990 when he was asked to manage the Riverside cemetery in Yarmouth and the Town of Yarmouth cemeteries. In 1995 his son Chris came on board, and together added the Cumberland Cemeteries and Varney and Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick. In 1996 they took on two additional employees and in 2000 his daughter-in-law Lori began assisting with the financial part of the business.
In 2001 Don died from brain cancer and left it to his son Chris to continue with the business. The business has continued to grow since then, D.C. Stilkey now manages 17 cemeteries including Gray cemetery. In 2009 D.C. Stilkey began memorial sales, in order to service thier customers better. In 2010 D.C. Stilkey constructed a new office building in Burr cemetery, and began managing the Lighthouse Crematory and Remembrance.
